At the summit, you’ll find Woryujeong Pavilion (월류정), a small, elegant structure perched on a rocky cliff. From here, the panoramic view of the river and the surrounding landscape is simply magnificent, particularly during the golden hours of dawn and dusk. The colors of the sky, the river, and the mountains blend into a masterpiece of natural art.
For those who love to walk and explore, the Woryu Peak Dulle-gil Trail offers an unforgettable experience. The trail is an 8.4 km (5.2 miles) loop that takes you through diverse landscapes, including wooden decks, stone bridges, farm roads, and lush forests. There are three main sections to the trail: Yeoul-sori-gil, Sannae-sori-gil, and Punggyeong-sori-gil, which even connects to the nearby Baekhwasan Banyasa Temple. As you walk, the soothing sound of the river and the gentle rustling of leaves will accompany you, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The scenery changes with each season, from vibrant spring greenery to fiery autumn foliage, ensuring a unique experience every time you visit.
Getting to Woryu Peak
Woryu Peak is located in a quiet, rural area, but it’s easily accessible by car or public transportation.
- By Car: The easiest way to get to Woryu Peak is by car. You can drive directly to the Hwanggan-myeon Namseong-ri Public Parking Lot. The trailhead is just a short walk from the parking area. The entrance is well-marked with stepping stones and a wooden deck path, making it easy to find.
- By Public Transportation: Take an express bus or train (KTX) to either Yeongdong or Hwanggan station. From there, you will need to take a local taxi to Woryu Peak, as local buses are infrequent. A taxi ride from Hwanggan Station is usually quick and affordable.
