1. Introduction to Yudalsan Park
Climb Yudalsan and see the sea of islands.
This 228-meter mountain rises in the heart of Mokpo. Locals call it the symbol of the city. Steep rocks and cliffs earn it the nickname “Gaegol of Honam.”
Reach the top at Ildeungbawi Rock. Wide views open over the Dadohae islands and Mokpo harbor. Ships move between the green dots of land like a living painting.
The Sculpture Park sits below the peak. It was Korea’s first outdoor sculpture garden. More than 100 artworks stand among trees and flowers.
A statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin greets hikers on the way up. A monument honors singer Lee Nan-young and her famous song “Tears of Mokpo.”

A 2.7-kilometer scenic road circles the mountain. Drivers and walkers enjoy easy access to many viewpoints. The trails stay short and well-marked for most visitors.

2. How to Get to Yudalsan Park
Reach Yudalsan Park easily from Mokpo Station.
Take the KTX from Yongsan Station in Seoul. The train arrives in Mokpo in about two and a half to three hours.
From Mokpo Station walk about twenty minutes toward the mountain entrance. Follow clear signs up the hill.
Local buses also stop near the park. Taxi rides take only ten to fifteen minutes from the station or bus terminal.
Drivers follow signs from the Mokpo tollgate toward the port and Yudalsan. Free or low-cost parking sits at the base.
Use Naver Map or KakaoMap and search “유달산.” The routes stay simple and direct.
Arrive early for cooler temperatures and better light on the trails.
