Read the important information below and upgrade your laptop to Windows 11 before the end of June 2025 to enjoy using the new Windows features!

- Tablets and mobile devices are unaffected and no action needs to be taken.
- IT colleagues and Digital Champions who are already using Windows 11 do not need to take any action.
What is Windows 11?
Windows 11 is the latest operating system from Microsoft, designed to enhance your experience with a more modern interface, improved performance, and new features to boost productivity. Features and improvements include:
- New features such as Snap Layouts and Snap Groups for improved multitasking.
- Improved virtual desktops with Snap Layouts and new animations.
- Redesigned File Explorer with a new layout and ‘tab’ functionality.

Why is this happening?
Windows 11 brings a host of new features and improvements which we want all colleagues to be able to use as soon as possible. From October 2025 Windows 10 will no longer be supported by Microsoft.
What does this mean for me?
Please upgrade to Windows 11 before the end of June 2025 by following the instructions below. If you have any questions, in the first instance look at the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
- Back Up Your Data: Before upgrading, check that your important files are backed up to OneDrive. Follow the Quick Guide – ‘Check that your important files are backed up to OneDrive’.
- Find the Windows 11 update: Go to: ‘Settings’ > ‘Update & Security’ > ‘Windows Update’ > ‘Check for updates’. See image below. From here, to upgrade, simply click ’Download and install’. This will start the download and install in the background without interrupting your work.

- Once the upgrade is ready you will be prompted to restart your computer to complete the final stages. See image below. Please note that these final stages may take up to two hours so make sure you only restart when you have time available. After the upgrade is complete further restarts may be necessary as additional Windows 11 updates are downloaded.

Please note, after the upgrade to Windows 11:
- If you have a Lenovo laptop and encounter any difficulties, in the first instance follow the instructions to update system drivers.
- If your Windows Hello function doesn’t work, follow the instructions and re-set Windows Hello.
