Mokpo Port is geographically located at the southwestern tip of the country and is a historic trading port that opened in October 1897 and has been open for 123 years.

It is divided into the inner and northern ports and is specialized by function.

The inner port is largely a passenger-only port and a cargo-only port for Samhakdo, and the northern port was developed as a marine product-only port.

The passenger-only port is operated separately as an international passenger terminal and a domestic passenger terminal, and the international passenger terminal mainly handles passenger ships heading to Jeju Island.

Currently, Mokpo Port has 24 general routes and 11 auxiliary routes. It carries about 13,000 people per day and serves as a gateway to islands such as Jeju Island, Hongdo, and Heuksando.

Mokpo Port is a key port for entering China and Southeast Asia due to its geographic characteristics with excellent natural conditions.

2 Tourist tips when visiting

Mokpo is located at the southwestern tip of Korea, so you can see it from the sky when you fly to Incheon Airport.

Mainly passenger ships for coastal island residents and cargo ships for overseas trade are anchored here.

Across from the passenger terminal are historic and quaint houses.

It also has a beautiful mountain called Yudalsan and an island called Samhakdo nearby.
