Mungyeong Joryeong Gate is a gate from the Joseon Dynasty located in Mungyeong Saejae, Mungyeong-eup, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea.

It refers to the first, second, and third gates and the auxiliary walls.

It was designated as Historic Site No. 147 of the Republic of Korea on March 22, 1966.

It is a gateway and military fortress between the Yeongnam region and Seoul, and has been an important transportation route since the early Goryeo period, called Joryeong.

It is an important military fortress from the Joseon Dynasty.

It is located on Mungyeong Saejae, a major transportation route connecting the Yeongnam region and the central region, and has played an important role since ancient times.

It is an important cultural asset that vividly shows the architectural style and defense facilities of the Joseon Dynasty.

This place is commonly called Jolling Pass. In the old days of the Joseon Dynasty, scholars from the Yeongnam region who were going to take the civil service examination passed through here.

Today, highways and tunnels are well-built, making transportation convenient, but in the past, people had to walk over the mountains.


This place passes through a large mountain range that can be called the spine of the Korean Peninsula, so it was said that even birds had a hard time flying over it.


It borders Gyeongbuk Mungyeong and Chungbuk Goesan-gun.


It consists of one gate, and it is said that only those who passed through here could pass the major exam held in Seoul.


There is also a movie set, and many tourists visit the set for movies and dramas.
