2 Animal Welfare Livestock Certification System
This is a system in which the government certifies cattle, pig, chicken, and duck farms that raise animals humanely according to high standards of animal welfare, and displays the ‘Animal Welfare Livestock Farm Certification Mark’ on livestock products produced at certified farms.
The Animal Welfare Livestock Farm Certification System is implemented at the livestock raising stage, and certification is given to laying hens (2012), pigs (2013), broilers (2014), dairy cattle, Korean beef cattle, goats (2015), and ducks (2016).
3 Farm animal welfare under the Animal Protection Act
Compliance with animal transport requirements is mandatory, and detailed regulations on animal transport, such as the structure and equipment of animal transport vehicles, are established to minimize animal injury and suffering during transport.
