Big Data and Humanities

Big data is very large data.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Just as there is TSMC in Taiwan, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are well known for their semiconductor Panduri factories in Korea.

As the era of AI changes in the future, there is expected to be a lot of demand for home appliances including self-driving cars, and in fact, Samsung Electronics is achieving results in the development of HBM4 and Hynix’s supply to Nvidia.

Video files including movies are sometimes over 700MB, and audio files are about 3~4MB for a 3-minute song in MP4, but this is not general data but a type of unstructured data.

In fact, the MS Word, Hangul files, *.xlsx, or *.csv files that we use are structured files, and big data is managed based on these.

However, this big data is mainly in the form of CSV spreadsheets, and the number of columns, that is, the number of records, is too large to analyze. Therefore, the value of big data varies depending on where and how it is utilized, but data accumulation is important.

In the eyes of Buddha, only Buddha is visible, and even stones on the roadside are considered food for chickens.

In today’s rapidly developing logistics and distribution era, a lot of data is being produced, and the target is not only people, but also the Internet of Things (IoT) that generates terabit per second, so most of it is unused and discarded, but some is being reborn as information that can be used like mining gold from rocks.

However, as you already know, this processing and usability are being actively applied in logistics and distribution, and now even large companies are realizing its importance and approaching it with the question of ‘how’.

Distributors can maximize sales by understanding and analyzing who their buyers are and what their tendencies are, and changing their PB products or displays, but manufacturers are also showing rapid steps such as leading trends depending on who their buyers are.

In addition, data obtained through open APIs created by the government, affiliated organizations, and local governments is useful information, but it is useless if it is not used.

In Korea, the government-managed data center (data.go.kr) manages it comprehensively, and develops APIs for users to disclose information.

Therefore, you can easily find the data you want, not only in the industrial and economic fields.

Big data, a tool of the 4th industrial revolution, can be easily obtained, but expert help is still needed on how to utilize it.
