A Chokseokru pavilion overlooking the Namgang River

1 Introduction to Chokseokru pavilion.

When war broke out, it was used as a command center to protect Jinjuseong Fortress, and during peaceful times, it was used as a civil service examination (examination center).

It was restored in 1960 by gathering the power of citizens to create the Jinjuseong Historic Site Preservation Association after it was burned down during the Korean War.

The building has an octagonal roof and an attic shape, and the stone pillars under the pavilion were quarried from Chokseoksan Mountain in Changwon, and the wood for the pillars was brought from Odaesan Mountain in Gangwon Province.

There are four signboards and poems by poets and scholars hanging on the pavilion.

Every fall, the Jinjuseong Fortress hosts the ‘Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival,’ which is a unique attraction.

I visited here last year.

In the cool river breeze, I thought about the thoughts of the people who lived in the old days and their sublime sacrifices.

The walls are antique, walking on walls full of ivy, looking back at myself today.

I could feel the wind while reading poems in cool Chinese characters inside the pavilion.

This place is not just large, but small and cute props go well with the blue river.
