1 Introduction to Nakan-eupseong.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! This folk village located in Nakan-myeon, Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do is a square-shaped structure built on a wide plain with a total length of 1,420m, height 4m, width 3~4m.
The surrounding area is a stone castle with a size of 1~2m. It is solidly built using square natural stones and is magnificent without any breaks.
It surrounds three villages: Dongnae, Seonae, and Namnae.
The village is a traditional village that maintains its original appearance, with 108 households actually living there.
You can see the residential style unique to the southern region, and the kitchen, earthen floor, and porch are preserved in their original form.
Every year on the first full moon of the lunar year, folk events such as seesaw jumping, swing riding, and castle siding are held.
The Nakan Folk Culture Festival is held in May, and the Namdo Food Festival is held in October.
2 Tourist tips when visiting
Suncheon is famous for the UNESCO-registered Suncheon Bay Wetland, where migratory birds fly in during the winter, creating a spectacular sight.
If you go a little northwest, you will find the folk village.
The thatched and tiled houses where my grandfather and grandmother lived look lovely.
At the entrance, you can see a magnificent building.
The residents do not live here directly, but commute to work from nearby.
They are very friendly, as expected from country people.
I really like visiting places that have houses and facilities that were used in the past.
Now, it is a shame that they are disappearing as industrialization progresses.
It is more than 400km away from Seoul, so you should plan to stay for one night, and there are many other tourist attractions nearby.
