Najetongmun is a stone cave gate that runs through the Silla and Baekje periods of the Three Kingdoms period in Seolcheon-myeon, Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do.

It is an artificial tunnel that is 3m high and 10m long and is located at the border between Seolcheon-myeon, Jeollabuk-do and Mupung-myeon, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It is located in Deogyusan National Park and at the entrance to Muju Gucheon-dong.

It is often misunderstood as a historical site because it is a stone cave dug out of natural rock rather than a concrete tunnel that passenger cars can pass through, but it is a tunnel that was built in the modern era.

This tunnel is so narrow that it is difficult for vehicles to pass through and the center line is erased, so it interferes with traffic flow, but it is maintained as it is because it is so rural and has little traffic.

In 1963, it was designated as one of the 33 scenic views of Mujugucheon-dong for tourism purposes.

2 Tourist tips when visiting

This is not a well-known tourist attraction, but it is a place of historical significance, and it is amazing that a passage wide enough for cars to pass through was created between the rocks.

There is a stream with clean water flowing nearby, and many rocks with unique shapes can be found.

There is a nice cafe nearby, so you can forget the heat by having a cool iced Americano in the summer.

There are no lodging facilities such as guesthouses nearby, and if you go up a little further, you will find the Mujugucheon-dong tourist site.

You can stay here for a night and taste delicious local food.

Deogyusan is nearby, and it has a resort and a first-class hotel, and a cable car runs to the summit, Hyangjeokbong.

It is a place where you can get away from the busy city center on holidays or during quiet times, clear your head, and feel refreshed.
